So, if the guy Cheney shot dies (he had a "minor" heart attack today), will Cheney be charged with manslaughter?
Ya know, the only thing that would make this story better would be if the guy he shot was a Democrat. It would have made the jokes even easier. I'm definitely enjoying the peppering he is taking on the Daily Show right now.
In a statement, Carlin, 67, said, "I'm going into rehab because I use too much wine and Vicodin. No one told me I needed this; I recognized the problem and took the step myself.
Sad day for comedy. Hopefully he gets better soon.
Yahoo asks How many vacation days has George W. Bush taken to date as president?
Keep up that hard work, George!
Court blocks anti-telemarketing list
"In a ruling filed Tuesday, the District Court in Oklahoma City said the FTC acted without statutory authority in creating and implementing the national do-no-call list."
Well, that's no good. I wonder if they will go after the Massachusetts one next.
Is there anyone out there who's work is not helped to some degree by the availability of e-mail and the web? I find TONS of information out between e-mailing with people and using the web on a daily basis, how the heck can someone say that it was hurting their business?
Yahoo! News - Bush: No Proof of Saddam Role in 9-11
I usually don't make political comments, but this is just funny. The only reason that anyone thinks that Saddam had something to do with 9/11 is because of Bush's administration basically making them think that he did and now Bush comes out and says he didn't. Any chance this has something to do with people like Howard Dean constantly saying the current administration is lying to us about these things?

I'll get right on it. Right after I finish, ummm, washing the dog. Oh wait, I don't have a dog. OK, I will get right on it, right after I finish getting a dog and washing it. Oh wait, I don't have a house yet for a dog to live in. OK, I will get right on it, right after I buy a house, buy a dog and wash the dog!
Now, that's funny.
Anyone in Boston without power? CNN is reporting that Boston has no power and has been affected by this blackout, but everyone I have talked to has power. I know my home machine is fine, and a buddy in Copley is fine.
Lessig says you should go read what he is doing and then go and sign this.
but I think this is way cool. The act goes way too deep in to taking people's rights from them and even though this law can't REALLY do anything, its cool too see local governments protesting to this level.
For those of you who don't recognize the name, this guy is the information minister in Iraq. He is the one on TV saying the US isn't even in Baghdad yet while CNN is streaming video of troops running around the streets.
Some of my recent favs of his:
Sahaf said American troops were beginning to "commit suicide on the walls of Baghdad.
"The soldiers of Saddam Hussein have given them a lesson they will never forget,"
"We will in fact encourage them to commit more suicides. We have given them death and poison."
This guy needs to be saved, brought to NYC and then be put on SNL to do Weekend Update. I think he would be hilarious. Things like:
"The Infidel Russell Crowe did not in fact get married today, it was all American propaganda to make this bad man look like he has changed his ways so that his movies sell more tickets. The Americans are just being greedy and trying to make themselves more money off of foreigners who have aligned themselves with the evil doers"
or some other random shit like that :)
The space shuttle Columbia, the oldest in the fleet has exploded. NASA lost communication around 9AM EST and seemed to explode over Texas. The one sad thing at this point is that they have already made comments along the lines of "This was not a terrorist attack" It is sad in this day and age that people's first conclusion is that someone blew it up, rather than some mechanical error.
Does anyone have an interest in this tonight? I sure don't. All we are gonna hear is about why we should be attacking Iraq. I'll read the recap. Time to throw a movie in.
Creative Commons Unveils Machine-Readable Copyright Licenses
So, I think I understand this whole concept. Still a bit fuzzy though. It seems to me they want people to be able to allow copyrighted material on the Internet with some limitations and as long as people follow those limitations it will be good. They now have a "machine readable" version of their licenses available, which I guess means I could now link in to them or something if I had any copyrighted material on my web pages and tell people via one of these licenses what they can and can't do with it. Will be very intereting to see what comes of this. Anyone want to tell me how close I am to having this right?
Boston Globe Online / Nation | World / Towns lead way on smoking ban
If vote goes through, no more smoking in bars in Boston. I wonder if Cambridge has one of these, maybe I will have to start hanging out there more often.
There is a story over on CNN entitled Bubonic plague suspected in NYC visitors - Nov. 7, 2002. I really thought the plague was a thing of the past. Rather interesting that New Mexico has the largest number of cases in the U.S. I guess I can check that off my vacation possibility list. I think the list of Ireland and Las Vegas is long enough anyways.
HAD being the operative word here.
CNN.com - Michigan 'Santa' charged with murder - Nov. 7, 2002
This is just messed up. Totally don't understand..
CNN.com - Run-DMC DJ slain in recording studio - Oct. 31, 2002
